Subject: [BIML Mailing #313]: Inquiry on the use of accreditation in 
conformity assessment in legal metrology

Dear Colleagues,

The cooperation between ILAC, IAF and the OIML, defined in the Memorandum of 
Understanding signed in 2007,  is implemented by means of an ILAC/OIML Joint 
Working Program which is updated every year. And among the actions defined in 
March 2009 in the 2009–2010 Program, we undertook to organize an inquiry in order 
to collect information concerning: 

- countries requesting accreditation of national type approval bodies, and/or 
bodies responsible for initial and periodic verifications; 
- the requirements defined for the traceability of measurements in the field 
of legal metrology. 

Please find attached BIML Circular no. 09/436 which has also been uploaded 
to the Members' page and which contains the questionnaire to be filled in 
by CIML Members and OIML Corresponding Members and returned to the BIML at 
the latest by 31 January 2010.
