Dear Colleagues, Last week the BIML mailed out the 2012 notifications concerning Member States' voluntary participation in financing the BIML Translation Center for 2012. You may also download the relevant BIML Circular from the Members' page of our web site: https://www.oiml.org/members/docs/translation_center_2012.pdf One of the missions we must accomplish is to finish translating the backlog of OIML Recommendations and other important OIML Publications into the French and English languages. With this work we will make use of some of the BIML Translation Center funds. While we currently contract the services of several translation companies here in Paris to translate non technical publications, this type of service is not suitable for publications of a technical nature. These must be strictly identical to the French or English version in order to respect the notion of "requirement", and avoid any possible misinterpretation. In view of the above, the BIML is putting out this call to our Member States to ask your help in identifying any potential colleagues, in your Institute or retired, who can offer their services as either an English to French or French to English technical translator. The BIML will request any potential candidate to undergo a test to demonstrate their translation ability. Where allowed, the BIML will remunerate the individual for this translation work. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you be able to propose the name of a colleague for such translation work. Best regards, Stephen Patoray BIML Director 11 rue Turgot 75009, Paris +33 (0)1 48 78 12 82
